Butterfly Beacons is a women-led Community Interest Company (CIC) based in South Wigston, Leicester, that provides a supportive and creative space for women and families. The group focuses on improving mental wellbeing through creative activities, upcycling workshops, and community connection.
Core Activities and Services
- Creative Upcycling: Participants turn textile and furniture waste into new items, such as draft excluders, to reduce landfill waste.
- Supportive Spaces: The group offers "creative circles" and safe environments for women to share lived experiences and seek advice without judgement.
- Mobile Outreach: They operate a community bus named "Rosa" for mobile sessions and drop-in events.
- Community Events: They participate in local events like Christmas Capers in South Wigston, offering free crafts and selling handmade gifts to support their mission.
Meeting Times and Locations

- Mobile Bus Sessions: Occasional fortnightly sessions on Mondays between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm at locations such as the Wigston Thythorn centre bus stop.
- School Drop-ins: They have previously hosted morning drop-in sessions at Parkland Primary School.
